Just watched an Estimated Prophet on YouTube from 4/26/77 Passaic, NJ. Great footage- Bobby has a full beard. I don't remember him with any facials. Seemed odd.

Hey wasn't '77 the year that Bobby got busted for trying smuggle ferrets out of Jersey on his face and had to do those public service commercials? LMAO

I'm the one that uploaded this video. I can try and get the rest of the show up either later on this weekend or later this week if anyone wants it.

He absolutely had a beard for part of '77. Posters, pictures, etc. exist of this. This is news worthy?

Hey Jody, didn't mean to sound like I was harshing. I just had arrived back from the Ratdog show in Albany and checked in on the computer and saw that (I was the one with the beer at that point). I remember I had this poster in my room back in jr/sr high? and it was a collage of sorts from 77, and Bob had his beard in those photos. Alas, the poster is gone now though. Well, off to Ratdog in Utica tonight! My kids will make me pay tomorrow morning.

No big. Just never remember seeing it before. Saw a fine Dead show up in Utica back in 3/79. Went to Hartwick College in Oneonta. Enjoy the show!!

Did you guys notice that Bucks County GD video. Looks like we got a bunch of GoGos or the Rhonettes doing psychedelic tunes in PA...

They seemed to pass the beard around in the seventies. Remember, Phil stole Jerry's beard in 1974--for around six months. Cf. the cover of Mars Hotel.

Little know fact: Donna grew a beard in '75, but they made her shave it off in '76.

Now THAT Donna factoid is newsworthy. Maybe the hair growth made her sometimes agonize thru her singing?

I must admit I didn't look at Weir too much and if I did I wouldn't care too much how he looked. The one thing that rattled me to the core was when Jerry wore that red t-shirt --- a sure sign there was trouble ahead. --- AshesRising

"Trouble ahead, Jerry in red, take my advice, you'd be better off dead."

Earl: Do you remember the new deadheads on the scene running around saying, "Trouble ahead; Jerry's in red...."?? -- it was unbelievable -- I definitely remember being at the Greeks or somewhere out West and this pack of tie-dyed kids (well, late teens/early twenties?) prancing around bfore a show saying that line over-and-frigggin-over-again-and-again. Do you recall that at any venue or were you just improvising on the lyric after reading the post? --- AshesRising

Ashes, I was just improvising on your theme. Thinking about it, I never saw Garcia in anything other than his standard issue black pocket Tee. Might have worn something different at the last show I saw in 91 but I wasn't there for the fashions.

Trouble was already there. Garcia started wearing the red t-shirts after he got busted in Golden Gate park.
